Job title: Management Accountant

Location: Manchester

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Up to £50k DOE + benefits

Focus of the role:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a fast-paced evolving Finance team as a Management Accountant. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager in a team of four, the key focus of the role is for the timely and accurate completion of month end reporting, as well as continued process improvement and the production of financial analysis to support the business in strategic decision making.

 

Responsibilities:

The key elements of the management account role includes but is not limited to:

 

  • Perform month end routines in line with business expectations typically with responsibility for designated revenue streams

  • Margin analysis to explain deviations from budget/forecast/prior year

  • Management of key cost lines, including analysis, posting accrual and prepayment journals

  • Analysis of annuity revenue to understand movement month on month

  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations on a monthly basis

  • Ownership of Fixed Asset postings and reconciliations

  • Tracking of Management KPIs across different departments

  • Monthly Staff Cost Reconciliation and Cost Analysis issued to stakeholders

  • Supporting posting deferred income based on system generated reports and interrogating accuracy, and WIP reporting to align revenue recognition with project status

  • Partnering with Procurement to ensure group overheads remain controlled and saving opportunities recognised

  • Identify process/system efficiency opportunities to support scaling as the business grows

  • Ensuring the day to day and long-term compliance of financial procedures

  • Business partnering with department leads

  • Development of further value adding analysis

  • Supporting the budgeting/forecasting processes as required

  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the year end audit

  • Other activities identified by Finance Manager as required

 

Person, Skills & Experience:

We are looking for a self-starting, proactive and ambitious candidate to join our Finance department. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a finance department and have started studying towards or completed an appropriate accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA). Strong analytical, IT and communication skills are also required, along with demonstrated initiative and a willingness to business partner outside of their immediate function.

 

  • Demonstrable experience coordinating and driving forward project plans to set deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Studying a relevant accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)

  • Drive continuous process improvement and identifying inefficiencies

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team whilst managing key stakeholder relationships

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel Skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Experience on the rest of the Microsoft package; Word, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams

  • Degree educated desirable

  • Results/target focused

  • Hardworking, persistent, and dependable

  • Positive and enthusiastic with a ‘can do attitude’

  • Motivated with a desire to do a great job and thrive in a busy fast-paced environment
